A scaling procedure for straightforward computation of sorptivity

چکیده

Abstract. Sorptivity is a parameter of primary importance in the study unsaturated flow soils. This hydraulic required to model water infiltration into vertical soil profiles. can be directly estimated from functions (water retention and conductivity curves), using integral formulation Parlange (1975). However, calculating sorptivity this manner requires prior determination diffusivity its numerical integration between initial final saturation degrees, which may difficult some situations (e.g., coarse with that are quasi-infinite close saturation). In paper, we present procedure compute scaling parameter, cp, corresponds unit (i.e., values for all parameters zero residual content) utterly dry at state saturated state. The cp was computed numerically analytically five models: delta Green Ampt), Brooks Corey, van Genuchten–Mualem, Genuchten–Burdine, Kosugi. Based on results, proposed brand new analytical expressions models validated previous formulations other models. We also tabulated output so they easily used determine actual value any case. At same time, our results showed relation shape strongly depends chosen model. These highlight need careful selection proper description when estimating sorptivity.

A Straightforward Saturation-Based Decision Procedure for Hybrid Logic

In this paper we present a saturation-based decision procedure for basic hybrid logic extended with the universal modality. Termination of the procedure is guaranteed by constraints that are conceptually simpler than the loop-checks commonly used with related tableau-based decision methods in that they do not rely on the order in which new formulas are introduced. At the same time, our constrai...

Straightforward Procedure for Laboratory Production of DNA Ladder

DNA ladder is commonly used to determine the size of DNA fragments by electrophoresis in routine molecular biology laboratories. In this study, we report a new procedure to prepare a DNA ladder that consists of 10 fragments from 100 to 1000 bp. This protocol is a combination of routinely employed methods: cloning, PCR, and partial digestion with restriction enzymes. DNA fragments of 100 bp with...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A Universal Scaling Theory for Complexity of Analog Computation

We discuss the computational complexity of solving linear programming problems by means of an analog computer. The latter is modeled by a dynamical system which converges to the optimal vertex solution. We analyze various probability ensembles of linear programming problems. For each one of these we obtain numerically the probability distribution functions of certain quantities which measure th...
